Is AC Joint Separation treatment right for you?

If you’ve had a direct blow to the shoulder or a fall that resulted in pain, swelling, or a visible bump at the top of the shoulder, you may have an AC (acromioclavicular) joint separation. This treatment is right for mild to moderate (Grade I–II) separations. More severe cases (Grade III and above) may require orthopedic evaluation and imaging first.

What is AC Joint Separation treatment?

AC joint separation treatment involves stabilizing the joint, reducing inflammation, and gradually restoring range of motion and strength. We use supportive taping or bracing as needed, along with manual therapy, posture correction, and progressive strengthening of the shoulder and upper back to protect the healing joint.

What conditions does AC Joint Separation treatment address?

This treatment is appropriate for:

  • Grade I–II AC joint separations
  • Post-injury pain or instability at the shoulder tip
  • Pain with horizontal or overhead motions
  • Chronic AC joint irritation or instability

We help you recover function, regain confidence in shoulder movement, and return to activity with improved strength and control.
